JohnLouie is a global executive and dynamic leader with extensive experience in commercial operating and strategic planning across media/entertainment, digital, consumer products, and licensing industries. Leveraging his strategy consulting experience, John has led strategy functions and operational divisions managing $200M+ P&Ls for multiple Fortune 500 companies (Disney, Mattel Australia, Warner Bros.) across consumer product and experiences categories. He has also consulted with PE portfolio companies and startups on accelerated growth and turnaround strategies, utilizing his marketing, sales, branding, and product management skill set.
As Regional GM for Warner Bros. Consumer Products, John expanded WB’s Asia Pacific footprint from $50M to $160M in five years, opening WB’s offices in Shanghai (10x revenue growth), Singapore, and Mumbai; growing the business in Australia; and turning around a declining business in Japan. John also helped lead WB’s NFT strategy and initiatives, negotiating and executing the company’s largest digital collectible deals.
As VP / Regional CEO, John led Mattel’s Australia / New Zealand subsidiary through a full business turnaround, transforming a declining business into the best-performing mature market worldwide, with increased sales +15%, OP +35%, and record margin levels. By setting a new divisional vision and overhauling the talent and skill base, John’s multi-functional management improved partnership engagement levels and rebounded declining brands.
John’s consulting engagements include helping Ruggable, a DTC home furnishings company, build and execute its omnichannel growth strategy; as well as turning around a digital + physical collectible product for a European client (+50% increase in e-commerce sales). He also advised EQL, a digital e-commerce platform that manages high-value, low-volume product drops (e.g., Nike SNKRS app), expanding the proposition to other product verticals.
John started his career in strategy consulting with McKinsey & Company and Bain & Company, followed by strategy leadership roles at The Walt Disney Company and Mattel, before moving to commercial operating leadership roles. Adept at organizational structure and leading teams through change initiatives, John’s global experience spans Europe, Asia, and Latin America, including developing market entry initiatives in Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
